Upon a foundation of rock,
A temple withstood the ravages of time,
Upon an edifice of faith,
A temple still stands…
By the seashore,
Not far from Triplicane,
A monument was built to time itself,
A living temple,
A temple of the spirit, a temple of the mind.
Here, five temples stood,
Here, five temples shall stand again.
The base was one,
By devout hands, the rock was hewn.
Of rock as hard as stone,
Of rock that withstood time;
Of penance borne in the name of the lord,
That temple cannot be undone,
That temple shall not fall.
In the hearts and minds of men,
These names are written forever,
Noble was their sacrifice,
And peerless were their deeds.
To the humble and the meek,
Wherever they may be,
That temple is the shelter, and the shade.
