With plumes upon their heads,
But a ladies’ fan they are not!
With striped coats of black and white,
But zebras they are not!
They come and go in pairs,
But lovers in their walk, they are not!
Hear the sound of their laughter,
But jesters they are not!
They love to pick, they love to choose,
But voters they are not!
Their beaks are sharp as scimitars,
But cutters they are not!
See the woodpeckers in their beat,
But joggers they are not!
Find them in the hollows of the trees,
But diggers they are not!
