If you welcome the stranger in your midst,
As you would your friend,
He may be a messenger from above,
And the bearer of tidings true.
To learn the meaning of friendship,
We must learn the language of trust,
We must stand by our fellows,
We must keep our word to them.
We share life’s joys and sorrows,
With those who choose to be our friends,
We share with them our feelings,
We share with them our inner thoughts.
If we do right by our kind,
If we keep their good in mind,
The bonds of friendship shall endure,
As links in a chain from virtue made.
An embrace full of compassion,
And help shall be on the way,
Across the binds of time and space,
Our friends shall come.
We left as friends,
We shall meet again as friends,
And there shall be joy in our meeting,
As the occasion demands.
